CSOs laud government’s YouStart programme
Civil society groups welcomed the YouStart programme at a workshop; Sherif Ghali said it would help young people but must be managed transparently.

Civil society organisations welcomed the government’s YouStart programme, which aims to tackle rising unemployment by supporting entrepreneurship. It is funded from Electronic Transfer Levy revenue, with GH¢10 million committed over three years.
At a sensitisation workshop attended by ten CSOs, Sherif Ghali, then CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs, said the programme would greatly help young people looking for sustainable work, but stressed that it must be managed transparently and not become a political tool for a few people. The CSOs asked that it stay open to all qualified youth and that growth of the private sector be supported, and the President was expected to launch it within weeks.
