Ghana Youth Federation launches Eastern Region chapter with 79 youth leaders
The Ghana Youth Federation launched its Eastern Regional chapter in Koforidua on 6 August 2026 with 79 youth leaders from all 33 districts. President Sherif Ghali called it a significant step towards a coordinated platform for young people to contribute to national development.

The Ghana Youth Federation (GYF) launched its Eastern Regional chapter in Koforidua on 6 August 2026. Seventy-nine youth leaders attended, drawn from all 33 districts of the region, and interim regional executives were introduced to lead mobilisation. A government representative at the launch said a united youth voice would carry more weight with policymakers.
GYF President Sherif Ghali said young people had waited a long time for a unified voice and now have one. The Federation is a non-partisan body registered under the National Youth Authority Act, 2016, and works by bringing existing youth organisations together instead of creating duplicates.
The next step is to set up District Youth Assemblies in all 33 districts, which will lead to a Regional Youth Assembly with elected leaders. The Federation is also developing a National Strategic Action Plan and pressing for stronger youth participation in constitutional review discussions.
